Notes from A Spiritual CenterMeeting on April
6, 2008 taken by Jacquetta
Golden led the meeting with those attending:
Carl , Joe , Jacquetta , Emilie, Ruby, Shirley, and
Tammy.
Service on 4/6/08:
We did a "Manifestation Board" based on the future
of A Spiritual Center and agreed to hang it in the
Center for inspiration.
Room Status:
Joe said that there had not been much action
from the realtor who has listed the building where
we are located, so we are sitting tight.
Care taking the Center:
Cheryl Schmidt is coordinating the care and
requested a available people for her duty. Carl
volunteered to do this.
Yoga at the Center:
Fran Page is not instructing yoga at the center any
longer.
June Solstice:
The Center is looking for someone to host the
solstice. Also Equinox in September . Contact
Golden 963-5516
Drinking Water:
Need volunteers to bring in bottled water for
May, June, July, August, September.
Outreach Service:
We discussed ways to participate in the community.
Some ideas were; "Adopt a highway" and Emily
will look into this; volunteering at the Heritage
House, i.e.. taking a picnic, scribing for those
residents who want letters written, reading to
residents . Golden will call the Heritage House to
see what they need help with. Another idea was to
volunteer at Valley View Hospital and
Joe will check on this. Emily suggested helping
with Mountain Fair, a fun way to be involved in
valley activities.
Please bring in additional ideas to reach out to the
communities around us.
Science of Mind Foundation Classes:
Golden asked if there is any interest in having
classes. Let someone know, if you are interested.
Social Activities:
Golden will continue to coordinate summer
activities. Some ideas for activities are:
horseback riding, rafting, music in the park,
camping, biking and hiking. Emily will coordinate
two hiking adventures after services this summer.
If you have any ideas, please bring them to the next
service.
Financial:
Contributions to the Center for the first quarter in
2008 were $2,164 and the expenses were $4,127. We
discussed that ideally the contributions should
cover the expenses. Ways to make this happen were
also discussed. More members committing to a
monthly contribution and more people attending would
help. We discussed ways to increase the attendance.
Promotion of the Center:
How do we attract more members?
Media and distribution of flyers were two ideas.
How do we deliver our message to the public in order
to draw them to the center? Identifying with The
Secret and going deeper without involving the
ego was brought up. Golden brought up the fact that
we could identify who we are at the Center and use
that in our description. We discussed using phrases
that may hook the public "Come as you are - your
personal God self". Including our mission statement
in our promotion would be positive. Any ideas are
welcome. Contact Joe 945-8812 or Golden 963-5516
How do we get people to come back?
Tammy volunteered to make copies of the songs
that we sing.
Other ideas were; cards for newcomers for personal
info, welcome packs, greeters and a contact person.
"Many hands make light work"
Facilitating - need volunteers:
Joe is facilitating in April
Carl and Jacquetta are facilitating in May
Emily and Ruby are facilitating in July
We need facilitators for June
,August and September Contact Joe 945-8812
The need for committees was brought up as a
possibility
Board Meetings:
We agreed to only meet biannually with additional
meetings called only if necessary.
Newsletter:
Joe is currently doing the newsletter and is okay
with that. Tammy volunteered to send inspirational
quotes for the newsletter.
Next meeting Sept 28th
